Sunshine on a Tea Rose

*

*
Hello my friends...I hope that you're having a fabulous day!
*
Ohhh my...it seems that my posts have been few and far between lately...and I
do apologize.  I really have been having a difficult time getting things going after my
Dad passed away last month.  Since that time, I have been battling a bad case of bronchitis
on top of it.  I am feeling better now...praise God!  There is so much that I need to do...and want
to do.  There are so many little projects around the house that is calling for my attention...
especially with spring just around the corner.  Hopefully I can get back into the swing
of things. I really have missed my blogging and all of you!  I sooo appreciate
 your patience!
*
Well...one of the things that I wanted to post about...and never had the chance
to do...is some of the Christmas decor that I did in my Tea Rose bedroom.  Yes...you
heard that right...CHRISTMAS...and it's already March.  I will explain though...
*
~Pretty-n-Pink Bottle Brush Trees~
*
I found the prettiest little pink bottle brush trees at Christmas time and thought
they would be perfect for the Tea Rose bedroom.  They are sooo pretty and I love
them sooo much that I have decided to keep them in the room for the time being.
*
*
~Sunshine on a Tea Rose~
*
*
Here we are...in the Tea Rose bedroom.
*
A few days ago...in the wee hours of the morning...the sun was shining ever
so sweetly into the Tea Rose bedroom.  I grabbed my camera and shot a few photos...
to catch the moment!  Don't let it be said that I "never" take the time to stop
 and smell the roses....hehe!
*
*
~Sunshine on a Tea Rose~
*
Most of you are familiar with the Tea Rose bedroom...
so I won't bore you with too many details.
*
This bedroom belongs to my step-daughter Danielle when she
is home...and it also serves as our guest room.
*
~Tea Rose Bed Linens~
*
I found the beautiful bed linens at JC Penneys several years ago. I just adore
roses and as soon as I seen this set...I knew it would be perfect for this bedroom.
The linens...my inspiration...and thus the name for the Tea Rose bedroom.
*
Oooh...see how the sun was shining soooo beautifully the morning of the photos?
I love how the Tea Rose bedroom looks all dressed up in sunshine!
*
*
Lot's of prettty pillows that I have collected over the years!
*
*
This is a small room...it is simple but hopefully our guests are comfortable here.
*
Besides the bed, this room hosts a small writing desk, a rocking chair and ottoman,
and on the other side of the room...an armoire.
*
*
Pretty-n-Pink Bottle Brush Trees...
*
I found these pretty pink trees at Hobby Lobby during Christmas.  I
decorated the trio of trees with a garland of sequins and jewels...sooo pretty!
*
A few of my white bunnies (one of my many collections), vintage pink
mercury glass ornaments, and a tea rose teacup and saucer have joined in with
 this Tea Rose vignette.
*
*
It's so funny...I just realized as I was looking at this photo...that all of the
bunnies are facing the sunlight.  I guess they are "basking"!  Hehe!
*
*
*
*
*
On the right hand side of the desk...my beloved tea rose lamp...
made by my dear friend Gloria from Happy To Be blog.
*
and...more bunnies!
*
*
*
*
*
Two pretty-n-pink rose buds...drying...from a floral bouquet given
to me by my very sweet and romantic husband on Valentine's day.
*
*
*
*
*
An "artsy" photo of the candle-chandelier that hangs above the desk.
*
*
Another Tea Rose vignette...atop the armoire.
*
*
I love, love, LOVE this little vintage pitcher with the pretty-n-pink
 flowers and blue ribbon!
*
*
Lots of pink!
*

*
*
Ahhhh...

*
...sunshine on a Tea Rose!
*
I hope that it warmed you!

A Few New "Frillies" for the Tea Rose Bedroom

*
Tea Rose Bedroom...Summer 2011
*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
Last Saturday I celebrated my 55th birthday!  Yeeeehawww!!!  You know...I'm getting to the age where I'm not sure if I want to continue having birthdays or not.  They seem to just make me old!  Hehe!
*
Anyway...my honey...the love of my life...took me to the big city to do a little birthday shopping.  I had a great time...shopping at Hobby Lobby and a few of my favorite antique fleas...and he took me out to lunch and dinner to boot!  It just doesn't get any sweeter than that!
*
Ohhh yes...I did find a few things while shopping...and I thought I would share one of those treasure finds with you today.
*
A Few New Frillies for my Tea Rose Bedroom...
*
*
Did you notice the new "frillies" in the Tea Rose bedroom?
*
You can look at the first photo...and then the second photo (above) to see a couple of my birthday treasure finds.
*
Treasure Find #1...
A frilly pillow...in cream...full of delicious ruffles...sitting in the rocker.
*
Treasure Find #2
A frilly french footstool...done up in a french toile with all the same colors of the Tea Rose bedroom.
*
*
I think my new treasure finds are a perfect addition to the Tea Rose bedroom!
*
*
I found this french toile foot stool...done up in pretty pink and green...at my favorite antique flea market.  It was marked down to a mere $15...with a 10% discount to boot...making a total of only $13.50!!!  As soon as I seen this little beauty...I did my "happy dance"!  Hehe!
*
*
I just love the pink and green toile fabric!  Pairing the toile with the pretty cream and pink rose fabric...gives this little foot stool a "cottage...shabby chic" feel.
*
You can get a better look at the cream colored ruffled pillow in this photo too.
*
*
*
*
A close-up of the toile pattern.
*
A game of badmitton being played...in days gone by.  I love the way the ladies and men were dressed...so elegant!  And...look at the garden of roses...and that adorable candy striped tent!  Ahhh!!!
*
*
A braided "rag" basket done up in different pink and green fabrics.  Another recent treasure find from the same antique flea market where I found the foot stool.  It holds a few of my favorite magazines...I think it goes nicely with the new foot stool!
*
*
*
*
*
Yes...I'm loving my new birthday gifts!  Thank you, honey!!!
*
Well my friends...hope you enjoyed my new "frilly" treasure finds for the Tea Rose bedroom.

Summer in the Tea Rose Bedroom

*
*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
Wow...can you believe it?  Summer will "officially" be here on June 21st!  That is just one week from today!  I have begun a little "summer sprucing" here at my place.  You know...throwing all the doors and windows open...doing a little deep cleaning...and dressing my home in it's new summer frocks! Hehe!
*
It seems that I always start my summer decor in the bedrooms...changing out the heavy bed linens for something a little lighter and brighter.  Soooo...I have finally finished preparing my Tea Rose bedroom for the summer season and I thought that I would share it with you today!  I know that many of you have already seen my Tea Rose bedroom but I do have a few new things to share with you...with all new and updated photos.  I hope that you enjoy!
*
A Summer's Tea Rose Bedroom

*
Here we are...in the Tea Rose bedroom...won't you come in?
*
This is my step-daughter's bedroom when she is here visiting with us...it also serves as our guest bedroom.
*
I just love this bedroom!  It has a shabby chic/garden cottage feel to itThe light "leafy" green wall color gives the room a very bright and cheerful appearance I think!  As you can see...I have chose shades of leafy colored sage green, soft buttery yellow, blush pink, and cream to decorate this bedroom.
*
It's a very comfortable room...and hopefully our guests feel at home here!  There is a small writing desk for correspondence...a rocking chair and small footstool to relax in or maybe to catch up on a favorite read.
*
Tea Rose Bed Linens...
*
Several years ago, I purchased this bedding set from JC Penneys.  It's called "Tea Rose"...and thus...the name for this room!  Do you name your rooms?  Hehe!
*
I actually purchased the bedding before redecorating this room.  It was my "inspiration" or jumping off point for the decor.
*
*
The sweet quilt that is folded and placed at the end of the bed was a "last year's" purchase.  As soon as I seen it...I knew...it would be perfect for the Tea Rose bedroom.
*
One of the things that I recently done in this room...was to add bed risers to the bed.  I sooo wanted to bring a little needed height to the bed itself.  As you can see in the photo above this one...the wooden bed risers are kind of large and clunky looking.  I really do hate how they look...just sticking out there!  Sooo...now I am looking for a longer bed skirt.  One that will reach to the floor and cover the bed risers.  I think I will still use the Tea Rose bed skirt though...just placing it on top of the longer one.  What do you think?  Have any ideas?
*
*
After purchasing the bedding, I searched for a bed corona to place above the bed.  I found this at Brylane Homes (online) and just love it!
*
I added a cream colored, very long, silky swag curtain to the bed corona.  It "poofs" in and out of the corona and falls ever so softly down each side of the bed and puddles onto the floor.  I love the whimsical and romantic ambiance that it lends to the room!
*
A pretty wreath made of blush pink colored silk flowers and crystal beads works perfectly to decorate the wall above the bed!
*
*
A close-up of the bed corona.
*
Sweet, Serenading Cherubs...
*
I found these two, sweet little cherubs on ebay.  They were made in Italy and feel just like the old vinyl baby dolls.  The colors and details are amazing...ahhh, I'm in love!!!  One of the cherubs is playing a violin...the other a harp.  Resting above your head while you sleep...these little cherubs will sooo sweetly serenade you in your dreams!
*
*
Tea Rose Bed Linens
*
Thought I would share a few close-up photos of this pretty Tea Rose bedding.
*
*
Decorative Pillows...
*
Over time, I have found several beautiful decorative pillows to coordinate with the Tea Rose bed linens.
*
*
I love, love, LOVE the coordinating fabrics used in the Tea Rose bedding.
*
The main fabric used in the comforter and shams is a cream colored linen with the most beautiful floral pattern of tea roses.  The manufacturers of the bedding picked up the blush pink color from the tea roses to use for the fabric on the backside of the comforter.  I like to fold back the comforter when making the bed so that you can see the blush pink small floral print from underneath.
*
The second fabric that is used in this bedding is the leafy green color that I chose for the walls.  It has a small blush pink rose on a demure diamond patterned fabric.  This fabric was used on the sides of the pillow shams and the bed skirt as well.
*
The third coordinating fabric that was used in the Tea Rose bedding can be seen on the euro shams...a pretty stripe that picks up all the colors that are being used in the bedding.  I  love mixing and matching different fabric patterns together.  This is easily done as long as you remember to incorporate the same colors in the different patterns...florals, stripes, etc.  English Country decor uses this technique to achieve it's style.  I Love this!
*
*
Pretty white pillowcases with pink embroidered flowers.
*
The pretty embroidered pillowcases are one of the new things that have been added to the Tea Rose bedroom recently.  I found these vintage pillowcases at the Antique Flea market.  I just adore that the embroidery is the exact same colors used in the bedding and just look at that gorgeous white crocheted edging!  Mmmm...yummy!!!
*
*
A view of the sitting area.
*
I refinished both the desk and the rocking chair.  The desk was made of maple wood...and believe me...it had seen better days.  Soooo...I painted it a creamy white and added a dark glaze over the top.  I also added a few frenchy embellishments to the drawer fronts and new glass knobs.  I found the chair for the desk at the Antique Flea market...it is a perfect fit for this room!  I also refinished the rocking chair...a $5 yard sale item!  I recovered it with a beige and olive green toile fabric (a sale piece)...I love how it turned out!
*
*
A New Area Rug...
*
Oooh...I was sooo very excited when I found this pretty "shabby chic" rug at Targets online!  It measures 3'x5' and is the prettiest...softest...shade of green!  It really does match perfectly with the greens in this room.  The rug has a beautiful pattern of roses and swags in white....love it!!!  You know, I have tried several rugs in the Tea Rose bedroom and was never "quite happy" with any of them...until I found this one!  Yeeehawww!!!
*
A New Braided Rag Basket...
*
I also found the sweetest little braided rag basket recently.  In fact, when my dear friend Gloria from Happy To Be blog was here visiting, we went to the Antique Flea market and it was Gloria who spotted this sweet little basket!  Thank you, Sis!!!  It really is perfect for the Tea Rose bedroom!!!  You can see the basket on the floor beside the rocking chair...filled with Romantic Home magazines!
*
*
A close-up of the new braided rag basket!  Isn't it just the sweetest thing you've ever seen?
*
*
*
*
*
A New Shabby Chic Armoire...
*
This is really the biggest change that I have made to the Tea Rose bedroom...a new armoire!  A big ol' piano set in this spot before I found the armoire.  We found a new home for the piano and I am loving the extra storage space that the new armoire offers!!!
*
*
The armoire has some pretty details...like the paneled doors with the gorgeous embossed shell/scrolls at the top!  Love, love, LOVE THIS!!!  The shell has touches of the same blush pink color used in the Tea Rose bedroom.
*
*
I hung my pretty crochet sachet heart on the glass knobs of the armoire door. It was a gift from a dear blogger friend...Shanna from Re-vamped French Maison blog.  Isn't it precious?  Thank you, Shanna!
*
*
To the left of the new armoire...sits a chair with a yellow wicker basket full of pretties...a little Victorian angel bear, an embroidered pillow and a few pieces of crochet and lace work doilies.  The beautiful pink box with the satiny pink bow is another gift from Shanna! You will find a sweet white ceramic bunny under the chair.  Bunnies...another one of my collections!  Hehe!
*
*
*
*
*
A New Vignette for the Top of the Armoire...
*
I have a few new "pretties" in this vignette to share with you.
*
*
On the right side of the armoire vignette...my beautiful carousel music box...a Christmas gift from my honey and step-children many years ago.
*
*
On the left side of the armoire vignette...
*
*
A sweet teacup with lovely pink and white tea roses...a gift from my dear friend, Gloria from Happy To Be blog.  Isn't this just the prettiest little teacup that you have ever seen?  I love it, Sis...thank you!!!
*
I also added two hand-blown aqua glass birds with feathery tails to the pedestal plate filled with soap flake tea roses.  Sooo pretty!
*
*
New/Old Pretty Pitcher...
*
Ohhhh...you should have seen me doin' my "happy dance" when I found this pretty antique pitcher at the Antique Flea market!  It was love at first sight!  Hehe!  I just knew it belonged in my Tea Rose bedroom...all decorated with those pretty pink flowers and tied with that beautiful blue ribbon!  I love, love, LOVE IT!  Ooops...I think that I said that already!  Hehe!  I'm not sure how old the pitcher is...but the glaze has crazing...just adding to it's charm!
*
A New Crystal Glass Wedding Basket...
*
You can get a glimpse of the crystal glass wedding basket behind the pitcher.  I also found this piece at the Antique Flea market.  Ohhh my...again, it was love at first sight!  I think that I am correct in calling this piece...a wedding basket?  Or is it called a brides basket?  It is a very nice sized piece...measuring about 10" tall (from the bottom to the top of the handle).  It's very heavy too!
*
A Basket Filled With Pretties...
*
I decided to fill it with a few of my grandmother's vintage hankies...all in pretty shabby chic colors and patterns...of course!  I topped the basket off with two beautiful starfish...a large pink starfish...and a smaller silver one.  These pretty...glittery...starfish were a gift from Ms. M over at Tales from an OC Cottage.  This dear, sweet lady just gifted me with a box of the most fabulous pretties...all handcrafted by her.  Thank you, Ms. M...I love, love, LOVE all of my pretties!!!
*
*
Just another close-up of my new/old shabby chic pitcher!  Bet you can't tell that I reallllly love this little pitcher...this is photo number???  Hehe!
*
*
A close-up of Ms.M's pretty pink and silver glittered starfish!
